12th English Prose Q&A 2026
Ln 2 : A Nice Cup of Tea
A) What are the author’s views on China tea?
The author says China tea has some good qualities. It is cheap and can be drunk without milk. But it does not give much energy, nor does it make one feel wiser, braver, or more cheerful.
B) How does adding sugar affect the taste of tea?
According to the author, tea should be drunk without sugar. Adding sugar spoils the real taste of tea. With sugar, one does not taste tea at all but only hot water mixed with sugar.
c) Elucidate the author’s ideas about teapots?
The author believes tea should always be made in a teapot. Tea from an urn is useless, and tea made in a cauldron tastes bad. The best teapots are made of china clay or earthenware. Silver and Britannia metal teapots make poor tea, enamel pots are the worst, and pewter teapots are only slightly better.
